Locals in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia burst into laughter when they heard that scientists in Iran have concluded from their scientific research that electronic mosquito repellent available in the market today does not really work in the first place. Who can blame them for they have for hundreds of years relied upon what nature has provided to do just that for them!

Mosquitoes! Yes, those pesky winged insects that are so synonymous with dengue and malaria can easily be repelled by what nature has provided even since the dawn of time. The modern world has introduced so many products and gadgets that claim to repel mosquitoes either indoors and outdoors. I’m sure everyone has heard of mosquito repellent patches, bracelets or traps some time in their life. Our concern or hatred for mosquitoes are indeed justified since apart from spreading deadly diseases, they are also capable of disrupting our good night’s sleep. Check with your private doctors and ask them just how many cases of sleeping disorders that they have received and can be attributed to this pesky winged creature.

If you are thinking of solving this once and for all for your beloved home, then look no further. Have you ever heard of this plant called Zodiac or to be more precise Evodia Suaveolens? It is a native plant of Papua New Guinea belonging to the Rutaceae family. It can grow to a height of 2m with lanceolate or linear leaves of up to 30cm in length. The leaves which have a bitter taste are often used by the locals to cure malaria in this region. Scientific research found that the leaves of Evodia Suaveolens contain evodiamine and rutaecarpine which scents are totally unacceptable to mosquitoes. It is like what that infamous skunk stinking odors can do to us!

So, if you wish to find a long term sure fire way to repel mosquitoes at your home, pick up the phone and call your landscape contractors or gardeners today. Just mention Evodia Suaveolens and ask them to draw up some plans to make use of them in your yard or garden. For maximum effect, you can also put a few pots of Evodia Suaveolens plants and house them indoors. It is a great indoor and outdoor plant that would ultimately give you the edge in your war against mosquitoes!
