Fret no
more. There is a treasure in many deep tropical rainforests hidden
ever since the beginning of time that could help such group of
people. Over in Malaysia, such treasure is called Tongkat Ali or
Longjack as it is know in the Asia Pacific region. It is actually
Eurycoma Longifolia, an exotic tree that could grow up to 10 meters
in height. Such exotic trees can be found in huge abundance in
Malaysia, Thailand & Indonesia. Traditionally, the roots of the
trees are used to treat malaria, high blood pressure, fatigue, loss
of sexual desires, fevers and impotency.
Under the microscope, the roots of Eurycoma Longifolia revealed many
amazing organic compounds such as a protective antioxidant that
inhibits cellular aging. Bio compounds with anti viral, anti malaria
and anti cancer characteristics have also been discovered recently.
As matter of fact, Quassinoid naturally produced in the roots of
Eurycoma Longifolia are twice more potent than ordinary fever
aspirins! Apart from the root, the barks and the leaves of Tongkat
Ali, also contains antioxidant properties. The aqueous and methanol
extracts of Tongkat Ali showed an activity of scavenging super oxide
and lipid peroxidation. This study proved that Tongkat Ali could
inhibit the chain reaction of free radicals that could be harmful to
the body system.
Now, the good news everyone is waiting for. Natives in the South
East Asia knew hundreds of years ago that Tongkat Ali can
significantly boost their sexual drives and functions. This
traditional belief has been confirmed by scientific research to be
true for Tongkat Ali naturally contains agents identified as
glycoprotein that promotes the development of testosterone. Another
study by the School of Pharmaceutical Science, Universiti Sains
Malaysia (USM), also showed that Tongkat Ali has aphrodisiac
properties. An experiment was carried out on impotent male rats.
When given doses of the extract of Tongkat Ali root (0.5 g/kg/day)
consistently for 12 weeks, the rats seemed to have a high level of
ejaculation. Tongkat Ali can also reduce hypertension and is
anti-malarial as it has a substance known as Eurycoma lactone.
All right, so much for the scientific mumbo jumbo. You might be
asking whether there are any known side effects of consuming Tongkat
Ali. There are reports of insomnia, anxiety and restlessness. Most
Tongkat Ali products would prohibit the consumption of Tongkat Ali
for children, pregnant and nursing women. Because of its ability to
increase testosterone levels, it should not be used by people with
breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes, heart disease, kidney
disease, liver disease or sleep apnea. It should not be used by
those with weakened immune systems as it might worsen their conditions
further. Do consult your private doctors and physicians before
trying out Tongkat Ali.
