That’s right folks!
Someone in Port Dickson Malaysia yesterday landed 4 handsome sized
Sea Bass (Barramundi) or Siakap to the locals here with a total combined weight of
26.02 kilos all
from hand-line fishing. The biggest catch was a whopping
12.055
kilos! It took two strong men to haul it onboard. There are no
fishing reels or rods involved here, just pure manual labor!
That amazing catch
happened yesterday on the 5th of May 2007, 2kms off the nearest
shorelines of Port Dickson on a kelong. If you are wondering what
kelong is, it is more like some sea fishing platforms that you may
have seen in your parts of the world. Except that kelongs are
normally wooden structures anchored to the sea bed using wooden
piles or stilts! Such kelongs are quite common in the South East
Asian region and you can see them along the Straits of Malacca from
Singapore, Malaysia and all the way to Thailand.
